Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has trained with the first-team squad and will be assessed ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid at Wembley. Kane, who has scored 13 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season, missed defeats by West Ham United and Manchester United after suffering a minor hamstring strain. "We're very confident (he will play) - he's on the list. We have one more day to assess him but maybe it's possible he can play tomorrow," manager Mauricio Pochettino told a news conference on Tuesday. "I don't want to say 100 percent because we have one more day.  Today and yesterday was good at training. Now it's with medical staff to take the right decision. "He was training with group and was good - at same level as team. We'll take the best decision for him, first of all, and then for the team."

BORUSSIA DORTMUND REJECTS CRISIS TALK

Peter Bosz © Gallo Imges Borussia Dortmund lost their status as Bundesliga leaders and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stopped scoring, but coach Peter Bosz denies talk of a crisis before Wednesday's Champions League tie against Apoel. Dortmund face an uphill fight to reach the knockout stages of Europe, as they trail both Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur by six points in Group H after three matches. Defeats by Tottenham and Real, before a draw at Apoel in Nicosia a fortnight ago, have left Dortmund, Champions League finalists in 2013, facing a group-stage exit. All is not well in the Dortmund camp, despite what Bosz says. A 5-0 German Cup victory at third-division Magdeburg last week is Dortmund's only win in their last five games. "There was no crisis - and there is no crisis - Hanover were just more aggressive than us," the Dutchman insisted after Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Hanover 96 saw Bayern Munich replace Dortmund at the top of the Bundeslig

AS GULF DISPUTE LINGERS, BAHRAIN RESTRICT TRAVELS FROM QATAR

Bahrain,  Saudi Arabia , the  United Arab Emirates  and Egypt severed ties with Qatar in early June, accusing it of sponsoring terrorism. Qatar denies the allegations. The quartet also stopped direct flights to Qatar and expelled Qatari residents, with exceptions for mixed-nationality families.

@TheGlobe reporters. North Korean hackers have stolen classified blueprints for warships and submarines, it has been claimed. They accessed and stole roughly 40,000 documents after penetrating the computer systems of Daewoo Shipbuilding last year, according to a South Korean politician who attended an intelligence briefing. Kyeong Dae-soo, a member of the main opposition party in the National Assembly, was informed of the hack by the South Korean Defence Ministry and other military agencies. Among the reportedly stolen information was roughly 60 classified documents describing weapons systems and test data for submarines and destroyers. Mr Kyung said: "We are almost 100% certain that North Korean hackers were behind the hacking and stole the company's sensitive documents." A spokesperson for Daewoo Shipbuilding said they were unaware of the breach until Tuesday and were attempting to confirm the politician's claims. The information could be use

President Muhammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday gave reasons why the boards of several parastatals have not been constituted. The non-constitution of the boards of parastatals of various agencies has affected the smooth operations of such agencies. PREMIUM TIMES reported how the President of the Nigeria Medical Association, Mike Ogirima, blamed the rampant case of quack doctors across the country on the non-constitution of the board of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. On Tuesday, while addressing the National Executive Council meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Abuja, Mr. Buhari spoke on the non-constitution of the boards. “Last year I said we would re-constitute the Boards of Parastatals. IMF: NIGERIA'S RISING DEBT POSES RISK TO EXCHANGE RATE

@TheGlobe reporters. The International Monetary Fund yesterday, said that the proposed borrowing plan restructuring away from domestic to foreign by the Federal Government aimed at reducing debt-servicing cost could create exchange rate risks. The government has planned  to issue USD5.5 billion debt instrument by the end of this year, most of which would go to refinancing existing domestic debt. The issuance would more than double the country’s outstanding dollar bonds to about USD9 billion and is in line with a strategy to shift the economy’s debt profile by doubling the portion of foreign debt to 40 percent of the total. IMF’s Africa Department Director, Mr.   Abebe Selassie was quoted by Bloomberg as saying, “IMF understands the authorities’ needs to rebalance its portfolio of domestic to foreign debt. Such a shift would however make the economy more vulnerable to exchange rate depreciation.” But the Director-General of the Debt Management Office, DMO, Mrs. Pat

MIDEAST OIL EXPORT: IMF PROJECTS $320 BILLION DEFICITS

@TheGlobe reporters. The Middle East's oil producers are bracing for continued pressure from lower   oil prices , with the International Monetary Fund projecting cumulative budget deficits of $320 billion over the next five years. Approximately half of that— or $160 billion— will be sustained by energy-rich Gulf Arab nations between 2018 and 2022. Still, it's significantly lower than the cumulative deficit of $350 billion that  Saudi Arabia , the  United Arab Emirates , Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain have racked up since 2015. A global drop in oil prices since mid-2014 has forced Mideast oil exporters to take steps to consolidate spending and find new sources of revenue, including implementing sensitive measures like introducing taxes and lifting subsidies. The IMF says in a report released on Tuesday that progress on these efforts has been uneven.

The Oscar-winning actress addressed her pledge in an interview with  Glamour   for her 2017 Women of the Year win. @TheGlobe reporters. "As an actor you're only as good as the things you're offered. And there just weren't any women offering me things," she told the magazine. "So when you dissect that, you realize there aren't women offering you things because they don't have the opportunities. I work to raise money for women's cancers; I use my voice for violence against women. And so I was like, ‘I need to be part of the movement that will, hopefully, change the statistics in my field.'" For Kidman, who originally made the pledge during a May interview with  The Sydney Morning Herald , it's important to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. "Because, to be

INCREASING CO2 EMISSION REACHES 403.3 PPM- WMO

The amount of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere rose at a record pace in 2016 to the highest level in at least three million years, says the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). Last year's increase was 50% higher than the average over the past decade. The growth could ultimately lead to a 20-metre rise in sea levels and an increase of three degrees in temperature, the organisation said in its annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin. Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) have now reached 403.3 parts per million (ppm), up from 400.0ppm in 2015. The two other main greenhouse gases, methane and nitrous oxide, also hit record concentrations last year. Image: Emissions from coal are causing CO2 levels to rise Scientists say last year's rise in CO2 was due to a combination of human activities, such as coal and oil emissions and deforestation. The El Nino weather pattern also increased levels last year. Concentrations are 45% above pre-ind
