BONNY YOUTHS DEMAND FOR AN INDIGENOUS RECTOR.



Bonny Local Government area of Rivers state Nigeria is an island pre-dating the colonial era. The island which main source of livelihood comes from fishing has in time past witnessed a gradual degradation of it environment which has led to the destruction of aquatic lives especially as the island plays host to multinational companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, Mobil NLNG etc. The island which has contributed emersely to the nation Nigeria still crawls behind development. This undoubtedly led to the protest by some youths in the island.

According to our correspondent, the Protest organised today by the Youth Leaders Forum as regards the Bonny Oil and Gas Polytechnic on the exclusion of Bonny Graduates in the on-going Academic and Non-academic Staff recruitment exercise,

The CTC Chairman Warisenibo Isoboye Tobin, who Summond an emergency meeting between Governing Council and Management of the Institution.

Isoboye Tobin while addressing the Governing Council, Assured them of their safety throughout their stay in Bonny local Government. He also advised the Council to go about the said interview transparently and with due diligence

The chairman Governing Council, Senator Julius Ucha reassured the Council Boss of due process in selecting a Rector for the Institution. He also appealed to the Council Boss to speak to the protesting Youths to calm down and allow the competent team of interviewers to do their work.

Addressing the Protesting Youths, the Council Boss applauded their efforts for organising themselves in a peaceful manner. " I salute your drive and solidarity for the advancement of our LGA", He said.
