WE ARE NOT WITH THOSE AGITATING FOR SECESSION- Gov. Wike

Governor  Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said unless Nigerians experience good gover-nance at the federal level, agitations will continue across the country. 

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wik Speaking during the 57th Independence Church Service at Saint Mark’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt Sunday, Wike said Rivers State was not part of any agitation for secession. 

He said: “As long as we continue to have bad governance, people will continue to agitate across the country. We give God the glory that we are still one, despite the agitations and challenges.

 “We are not part of those who want to secede. Rivers State will never be part of that.” Wike, however, pointed out that the country cannot continue with the current level of impunity and injustice, saying it was time for the right thing to be done. He said: “People must speak out. Under this dispensation, votes no longer count. ” In his sermon, Anglican Bishop of Evo Diocese, Rt. Rev. 

Innocent Ordu, said Nigeria has developed despite her many challen-ges and urged Nigerians to respect laws.

NIGERIA: RTEAN INAUGURATES TASKFORCE AGAINST ERRING MOTORISTS

The Lagos State Branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has set up a taskforce to arrest members of the association driving against traffic in the state. The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Musa Muhammed, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday. He said the union had set up the taskforce to support the one put in place by the Lagos State Government to prevent commercial motorcyclists from operating on highways in the state. “We are law-abiding citizens, we obey traffic rules and regulations and we want total compliance with Lagos State traffic laws. “That is why we set up the taskforce to monitor and arrest any of our members or uniformed people, plying the expressway or disobeying traffic laws.” According to him, the association is ready to support the State Government on any policy that will step up and advance the transport sector.
